Green Cleaning products Pt 2
Palmolive has a new eco-friendly dishwasher detergent called Palmolive eco+. It’s phosphate free, friendly for lakes and streams, and provides superior cleaning action. I can’t vouch for the other two, but I must say that when I saw this on sale at Target, I had to try it out. Disappointed is not even the right word. First off, phosphates are an inorganic chemical that is a salt of phosphorus acid. These contain naturally occurring heavy metals that can seep into groundwater and pollute plants and other marine life. Normally when one washes dishes, they expect to see some bubble action. There were none. In fact, this stuf didn’t do a good job at cleaning. It smelled awful and looked like something found in a used condom. It left a white residue around some of my plastics. And it’s not all that Eco friendly. The website includes an ingredient list of all it’s products. I couldn’t help to notice that silicate salts, sulfuric acid, and sodium hypochlorite(also known as bleach) are listed as ingredients in this product. Overall, this product deserves a big fat F.
